Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

The first step is a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation. This is a chance for us to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask questions, and see if we feel like a good fit. You can book directly online or reach out by phone or email.

What are your session fees?

Individual sessions are $200 for 45 minutes or $220 for 60 minutes. Our first meeting is a 60 minute, initial assessment that is $250. During this session we will decide together which session length works best for you. Limited sliding scale spots are available.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits.

How do I pay for sessions?

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept all major credit cards (including HSA/FSA cards), cash, and check. Automatic payment via credit card is available for convenience.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. I understand that life happens — please reach out as soon as possible if something comes up.

What kinds of clients do you work with?

Many of the clients I work with are adults or teens navigating life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and more. I also support LGBTQIA+ individuals and those who identify as neurodivergent.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

Then you're in the right place to start! I have worked with many clients who were new to therapy, and always aim to provide a positive introduction to the therapeutic space. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable, and I'll guide you through the process with care, clarity, and curiosity.

How often do you meet with clients?

Most clients start with weekly sessions, which is important to help build momentum and trust in the work we're doing together. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your needs, goals, and preferences.

How does therapy work?

Therapy is a collaborative process. Together, we'll explore what's going on in your life, identify patterns, build insight, and find practical and accessible ways to move forward. I draw from evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique experiences, always at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual therapy. In-person sessions are available in Corte Madera and San Francisco (Lower Pac Heights) Monday through Thursday. Virtual therapy sessions are available to residents of California and Florida, Monday through Friday. (Please note due to licensing rules and restrictions, you must be physically located in these states at the time of session).

What are your business hours?

I typically meet with clients on Mondays through Thursdays (evening appointments available). If you reach out Saturday or Sunday, those days are not considered business hours, and I will be unable to respond to your inquiry until the next business day.

How long does therapy typically last?

Therapy looks different for everyone. Some people come for a shorter focused period; others find value in longer-term support. We'll check in regularly to make sure therapy is still meeting your needs, and you're always in charge of the pace.

What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?

That's completely okay and actually quite common. The free consultation call is a low-pressure way to explore whether therapy might be helpful. There's no commitment required in our conversation. When possible, I may be able to provide referrals to alternate providers or resources.

I'm not a fan of phone calls. Can we connect another way?

Absolutely. When booking online, just mention this in the message section and I'll offer confidential alternatives so we can connect in a way that feels most comfortable for you.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before starting care. This estimate explains the anticipated cost of your therapy services. Please contact me at 415-741-1148 for more information or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
